观鸟图鉴

图鉴可以帮助我们进行野外辨识。一般来说，图鉴内容包含辨别鸟类的要点，图文并茂，有些袋装型图鉴在设计上方便携带。

国内现时有多类型图鉴可供选择，最多人使用的是John MacKinnon主编的《中国鸟类野外手册》，还有较早期使用的《中国野鸟图鉴》。至于观察地区性的鸟类，不妨可考虑参考各地出版的图鉴，例如常家传《东北鸟类图鉴》、自然之友出版的《北京野鸟图鉴》、上海野生动物保护协会主编 的《上海野鸟图鉴》、Clive Viney, Karen Phillips和林超英的《香港及华南鸟类》。

现时市面上渐渐出现了摄影图鉴，在台湾和香港近年亦相当流行，摄影图鉴解决了看文字辨识鸟种的问题。

补充资料方面，当然可以多按需要选购实用的参考书籍，例如有助辨识西北部或欧洲鸟种的 "Collin’s Bird Guide"，有助辨识西南部、华南或东南亚鸟种的 Richard Grimmett的 "Pocket Guide to the Birds of Indian Subcontinent"，或 Craig Robson的 "Birds of South East Asia"等。

此外，市面上还可以找到多种专题的工具书，不妨多留意。 例如，CHRISTOPHER HELM出版的一系列专门图鉴，详细描述鸟种，配合精良的绘图，加强观察者的野外辨识技巧：
